In 2024, our members helped us...

  • Complete the Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative aimed to increase public and industry awareness, knowledge and confidence in zero-emission vehicles (ZEV), particularly battery-powered micro-mobility (BPMM) solutions, as well as accelerate the adoption of these solutions by targeting the health and social services sector.
  • Provide consultation services and networking assistance to a growing number of Canadian health care providers.
  • Welcome multiple industry partners to our Community of Sustainable Businesses for their ongoing commitments to sustainability. We worked with these companies to provide targeted educational opportunities to health care leaders, professionals, staff and volunteers.
  • Become a 2024 Health Care Climate Action Winner by Health Care Without Harm for the sixth year in a row! This award recognizes an organizations commitment to reducing health care’s carbon footprint, preparing for the impacts of extreme weather and the shifting burden of disease and educating staff and the public while promoting policies to protect public health from climate change.
  • Launch a national project, The Canadian Health Care Forests, aimed at “bringing the forest to the patient” by providing restorative benefits through immersive natural landscapes where patients can view and walk through health care forests, promoting relaxation and regeneration.
  • Host the first year of the Green Office Challenge, where primary care offices showcased their green initiatives to compete for the title of Greenest Primary Care Office in Canada.
  • Create the Green Pages, a one-stop hub for sustainable resources—a growing directory of green initiatives and toolkits created by organizations, institutions, and health care facilities across Canada.
  • Introduce the Advisor Series, highlighting the expertise, resources, insights, and advice from the Coalition’s dedicated volunteer advisors.
  • Launch Preparing Canada’s Health Care Buildings for Net-Zero, a project funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada, to equip health care professionals and leaders with the tools to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from hospitals, clinics, long-term care homes, and other health care facilities.
