ENERGY STAR® Advocate of the Year
At the Coalition, energy management has always been top-of-mind for us, with steady efforts to raise awareness and provide education on topics such as energy efficiency, energy management methodologies, and building resilience for climate change.
Some of the key accomplishments that helped secure the ENERGY STAR® Advocate of the Year award win a fourth time include:
- Featuring ENERGY STAR as a prominent sponsor in multiple issues of the Green Digest - our long-running free bi-weekly newsletter,
- Promoting ENERGY STAR Day and certified product features as well as services (such as Portfolio Manager, RETScreen Expert Energy Management software) on our social media platforms,
- Including ENERGY STAR recommendations in all building energy assessments conducted for Canadian health care facilities by the Coalition’s HealthCare Energy Leaders Canada (HELC), Healthcare Energy Leaders Ontario (HELO) and HELO North team.
2020 Health Care Climate Challenge Award
As the only sector with healing as its mission, health care has an opportunity to use its ethical, economic, and political influence to be a leader in climate solutions.
By moving toward climate-smart health care, the health sector can mitigate its own climate impact, save money, and lead by example. In becoming more resilient, health care can help prepare their own facilities and their communities for the growing impacts of climate change. Providing societal leadership can help the health sector forge a vision of a future with healthy hospitals and healthy people living on a healthy planet.
Ontario Trillium Foundation Award
The Coalition delivered a successful project that builds on the success of a proven model or program with a $199,100 grant over 36 months to develop and facilitate the implementation of climate resiliency best practices for health care facilities. Encouraging people to support a healthy and sustainable environment, this initiative is helping the development of mechanisms to promote responsible resource stewardship, and has an impact on the lives of 99,999 people in the community.
