"In September 2020, Neil Ritchie, Executive Director of the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care was the keynote presenter for the Canadian Federation of Medical Student's (CFMS) Health and Environment Adaptive Response Taskforce (HEART) virtual conference on Planetary Health Action. This conference set the stage for the launch of their newest initiative, Project Green Healthcare/Projet Vert la Santé. Teams of medical students are empowered with a national community of practice and a financial grant of up to $2 000 to partner with their local hospital systems to design and execute green quality improvement projects across Canada.
As mentors for the initiative we are thrilled at the opportunity to share the projects of the inaugural Project Green Healthcare/Projet Vert la Santé cohort, along with an introduction to the project presented by its Co-Directors, Owen Dan Luo, a second-year medical student at McGill University, and Jacob Carson, a first-year pediatrics resident at Queen's University.
