Technical Webinar
A technical overview of the award-winning, integrated outcome-based deep energy retrofit at the Quebec University Hospital Centre
About the event
Facilities professionals implementing integrated, outcome-based deep energy retrofits can uncover additional value to transform healthcare in their organizations. These retrofits prioritize critical infrastructure repair and improve multiple outcomes at once; including sustainability, facility condition, building performance, resiliency, IEQ, and quality of care. They also drive innovation through aligned stakeholder interests, the integration of design and construction, and the best use of human and financial resources.
This webinar will provide an overview of the technical approach for the award-winning, four-hospital Quebec University Hospital Centre (“CHU”) deep energy retrofit. The CHU retrofit reduced energy consumption in its largest hospital by 35%, as well as GHG emissions by 66%, and nearly 30% of the energy bill across its portfolio of facilities.
Learning Objectives:
1. The technical strategy, design and implementation for the main project measures, including steam to hot water conversion, heat recovery and geothermal.
2. How the CHU’s retrofit:
o Optimized the project budget and replacement of equipment while maximizing incentives.
o Broadened the project scope by allowing for the inclusion of renewables, creating a greater impact on sustainability.
3. How these retrofits are effective not only in large facilities, but also in smaller facilities with less energy-intensive systems.
